The Insulin to Carbohydrate Ratio is the amount of insulin needed for a given amount of carbs. For example, if it’s "1 in 10," it means 1 unit of insulin for every 10g of carbs.

The Correction Ratio is the amount insulin needed to reduce the blood glucose level by the given amount. For example, if it’s "1 in 8," it means 1 unit of insulin will correct the glucose level by 8 mmol/L.

Target Blood Glucose Level (mmol/L):
The Target Blood Glucose Level is your ideal blood glucose level given to you by a healthcare professional. By using this and the correction ratio above we can calculate how much extra insulin is required to bring you down from a high blood glucose level to this ideal baseline. If the current blood glucose level is close to or below the target blood glucose level, no correction will be required.
